Todays nails.

So today I tried something new on my nails, I tried an Essie polish, now at first I wasn't impressed, although it went on very smoothly the brush was far to wide for my little finger nails. They are crazy long and thin so the mad wide brush didn't really sit properly. When I turned it sideways to try and put it on it left everything a little bit too gloopy for my liking, as I like to put on more thin coats than fewer thicker ones this didn't really sit well with me. I find it dries nicer with thiner coats and you don't get stuck with bubbles. Now despite this I was pleasantly surprised by the coverage it gave, even if I did have to apply 3 coats to achieve the opacity I wanted, it would have looked just as good with a single coat.
The colour I used was a lovely bright red with blue hues called Russian Roulette.

Now I love to have a statement finger which is almost always my ring finger, for this I put a layer of Models Own Scarlet Sparkle. Theres not much to say about this, as with almost all Models Own polishes it went on perfectly, for the amount of glitter I wanted on my nails I added a second coat however it would have looked just fine with a single one.
Last time I used this colour I did it onto the nail alone as I do with most Models Own glitters as you only ever really need 2 coats for full coverage, however with this one the red colour under it really makes it pop. It has a feeling of Dorothys shoes in the Wizard of Oz.

As my base coat I used my fave one in the world, it's Nails Inc A&E, It it amazing as I don't get stained nails when using it, even with the dreaded green polish! It's a yellowy colour as you can see from the image and you only need a really thin coat, I can't even think to tell you the amount of times I've used this polish and it's only looking about 1/3 used! I would very much recommend it!

For the top coat I used another new find, this is a Sally Hansen one. I used Sally Hansen base coats a lot when I was about 10 years old and used to love them because I could grow my nails really long however this isn't my goal anymore thanks to contact lenses. I haven't used them in years, I've been using Nails Inc ones and I wasn't impressed, despite the promise of 30 second touch dry my nails never were and they took hours to fully dry and they always seemed to chip within a matter of hours. This Sally Hansen one, which happens to be called Mega Shine, dried to touch in less then 30 seconds and then could be pressed not very that long after without the dreaded ripple effect occurring. Honestly I am sold! I will not go back to another make of top coat, and reading around on the internet I am not alone in this. My only problem is the the opaque bottle will make it hard to tell when I have run out of the stuff.

So now for the pictures:

The polish on.

Until next time,

Models Own Collection.

So I thought I would show you my Models Own collection to kick start this blog! It's my fave brand and well the collection is growing fast thanks to my trip to the Bottleshop in Westfield, it's also thanks to Boots' 3for2 offer that they have going on for summer! Some were also bought in the online 50% off sale, one or 2 from ebay and a couple from TKMaxx!
As you can see from the Photo I have a lot of glitter and green and not a lot elase! I intend to go for some more neutral colours as well as a few more yellows, oranges pinks and purples! I think I may invest in the scented pastel range as well, they look awesome!
